If your existing roof is approaching 15-18 years old, call for an inspection of the roof. We will get up on the roof and look for cracked or missing shingles, and we will look to see if all the flashings (seals) around the chimney and vent pipes are tight. We will check for weak or soft spots in the roof deck. Look to make sure your roof is adequately vented. We'll provide you with either a written inspection or an honest appraisal as to the life expectancy of your roof.
All surrounding cities and townships in the Lansing, Michigan area follow the state code of allowing two layers of roofing on a home. Whether or not you put a second layer on is strictly up to you because it's your home and your expense. There is no pat answer to this question because there are so many variables that come into play, i.e. the current condition of the shingles (severely curled, dried out?), and the condition of the roof deck. Upon receiving your call, we will come out and provide you with a written proposal, which offers the homeowner options to remove the old roof or not. We will also inform the homeowner about the variety of styles of roofing material that could be used, all with the sole purpose of providing you with a quality, affordable, roof so you can protect your greatest investment, your home.
